I Wish...
...that people would be as kind as they are right now all year long. Today when I took the girls to Starbucks for a hot chocolate treat after shopping, a couple offered us their table, and another man brought me a chair (since their weren't enough) and wished me Merry Christmas. Wow. Very cool.
...that Christmas could stop being about presents.
...that people could learn how to communicate with each other. Say what you think, in a kind and respectful way, but just say it already! LOL
...that my girls could stay 6 1/2 for a lot longer. They are so much fun right now.

2009 Calendar Project
I actually got a bunch of Christmas presents done early this year! I used Traci Reed & Kristin Cronin-Barrow's new collection of mini-kits called A Month at a Time. It's a super big collection!
I had the calendars made at Shutterfly and they came out really well - great quality.

Quote of the day
You never know what you might hear two six year olds discussing...

"When John McCain is president, Barack Obama can be his helper."
"Yes, Barack Obama can clean John McCain's potty!"
Oh my. I don't really see that happening, do you? Should I email this in to the McCain campaign? My kids can become the next "Joe the Plumber" (who is from my city, BTW).
Rob and I discuss politics some, but I try not to be negative about either candidate in front of the kids. After all, one of those men is going to be our next president and we need to respect him and pray for him. Anyone who wants that job is a special kind of person.
For some reason Heidi decided that she wants John McCain to be president. When I asked her why, she said that his name sounds like a president's name, and he looks like a president. Okay, that's fair. How many of our presidents have had the first name John? LOL
So, on election day, the girls will go with me to vote, as they always have, we'll vote for McCain and see what happens. No matter what, our country is going to be okay. God is in control.

Knitting Season
Something about the cool weather makes me want to knit. I've been on a frenzy the past few days, and I've completed two hats already. Thanks to SouleMama for the super cute hat pattern!
Of course I made a layout to document my projects...
Credits: paper from Traci Reed, journaling shapes from Miss Tina, swirls, circles and hearts from lauraskathi, Highland Perk font
I attached pieces of the yarn I used to the printed page and I created a knitting journal binder so I can have a record of all of my projects. After all, since I spent all the time making stuff, I want to remember it!
Well I'm off to work in the kitchen at the girls' school. Why is it more fun to wash dishes somewhere else? LOL

Fascinating
Yeondoo Jung's artwork is some of the most interesting stuff I've seen in a long time. Check out Wonderland, where he interprets children's drawings into photographs and Bewitched, where he photographs average people in their everyday surroundings, and then in their dream surroundings.

Week in the life made it big
I made the big time...woohoo! My week in the life pages are on Ali Edwards' blog this morning!!! I was so excited to see them there!!
I've followed Ali's work for quite a while now and I really appreciate her focus on the story rather than all the fancy stuff people put on their pages. Don't get me wrong...I love making pages with all the pretty eye candy I get to use from my designers that I CT for, but sometimes it's nice to just focus on the basics.

LO: Superhero Art
Heidi and Gretchen both love to draw. Heidi is on a superhero kick right now, probably because a boy in her class at school is, and he's an excellent artist. I can't save every drawing, so it's fun to scrap the really special ones. :-)Traci Reed's My Hero, brand new on 10/4/08 at SSD!

Cleaning Day
Did you know that every Wednesday is cleaning day? At least it is around here. My mom has pretty much determined this, which I guess is okay. She has been taking the girls in the afternoon so I can "get some things done around the house". Here's today's list:
1. Vacuum first floor DONE
2. Finish laundry; get everything out of the basement
3. Put away Little People boxes and clear landing of stairway
4. Clean out refrigerator
5. Design templates for new scrapbooking product
6. Make grocery list
7. Clear kitchen counters and wipe them down
8. Scrap a Traci page DONE

I'm a color genius!
This week Sweet Shoppe Designs' blog prompt is to take the Crayola Color Quizzer test. This was fun! And my score....drumroll please....
I have to admit that the girls just got brand new boxes of the new mini markers. They come in a box just like the crayons and there are 64 colors. Rob and I were amusing ourselves reading all the names a few days ago. :)

The girls went to Safety City this summer, which is a two week program offered in our community for kids entering kindergarten. I went as a kid and was afraid of just about everything there...the ambulance, fire truck, dog catcher...even learning about safely plugging in electrical cords. Fortunately, Heidi and Gretchen didn't have that problem and they really enjoyed themselves. When the class was over, they didn't want it to end.
::What's For Dinner::
Update to last night: if you are cooking carrots and potatoes in a crockpot, they need more than 5 hours on high to get tender. We ended up letting my stew cook and had scrambled eggs, bacon and homemade oatmeal bread instead. LOL
As for tonight, since we already had eggs for dinner this week, I can't use that one again...guess I'll have to get creative. Maybe we'll try the stew tonight.
